  • RFinder ROM's are ZIP files; extraction automatically occurs during update via Android settings

Source: RFinder Manual v.68 p.33-34
Once you hit the power button, if your ROM is out of date, you will get a notification. Within this notification, you are able to download the latest ROM.zip file. NOTE: Software and ROM are two very different things. The ROM (.zip file) is the actual firmware of the device itself, whereas the software is the RFinder Application (.apk file).

  • Backup/restore on the Android smartphone side is via the usual Google account settings/features.
  • Backup/restore memory channels on the radio side is via the RFinder Cloud Programming on the web, and the RFinder app's memory features of Save/Restore to/from the Cloud. A programming cable and CPS (computer programming software) is not needed.
  • More information on memory backup/restore in the MEMORIES section.

Official Statement Regarding RF1 vs RF Development
RF1 will post as a software update later today.
To enable DMRoIP go to Menu → Settings → Switch to Experimental Mode.

RFinder prides itself on being a leader in the latest Amateur Radio technology. Many of our loyal customers have played a vital role in testing and providing the feedback for our cutting-edge features.

As with any innovative technology, features are in varying stages of development and stability.

We desire to provide both an innovative and stable product for our customers, so we are implementing several changes effective immediately.

First, we are providing options for RFinder users to choose which platform they wish to run based on their needs; Experimental Features or Increased Stability Version.

We will continue to offer DMRoIP within the Development App only (hereby referred to as RF Development). RF Development will be for customers who are interested in being a part of the testing of features while in the different stages of development. We are also excited to be offering a new FM/DMR app (hereby referred to as RF1) with established, stable features for easy-to-use DMR and FM radio transmissions.

All of this is an easy upgrade through the existing RFinder application. Choosing the platform that fits your needs the best can be accessed through Menu → Settings (Choose Experimental Features or Increased Stability Version).

RF 1.1 Released (from Joseph Humberger)
DMRoIP is still present in the application and is not going anywhere.
As we work to meet the needs of our customers around the world, we have chosen to give our users the option of choosing the version that fits their needs best; a version with DMRoIP or a scaled down version with a simpler User Interface.

One's selection can be changed at any time through the settings menu.

With the latest update that was pushed out this evening, you will be prompted on first launch to pick which version you prefer.
